Roka Blaufränkisch

Liam dropped off a couple of cases of their 2018 vintage and to say I was excited is an understatement! This is a smooth, velvety wine, more of a satin sheet than a cosy quilt. Fruity and deep, precise and elegant, every vintage gets better and better and this is my favourite so far.

‘Roka’ means hand in Slovenian. Manual work in the vineyard, hand-harvested, spontaneous fermentation with natural yeasts in open wooden fermenters. Aged in 500-litre oak barrels for 12 months. Bottled without fining or filtering. Made by Liam and Sinead Cabot of Cabot & Co Fine Wines in Ireland. Their crazy adventure continues…

A gorgeous, medium-bodied wine with beautiful dark berries, a touch of spice and a smooth finish, perfect for a range of dishes.
